Located in Miami, the historic Virginia Key Beach was once known as the only beach in Miami that gave access to African-Americans. But now, things have changed for the better and the beach is one of many that have opened its heart to everyone. Virginia Key Beach is located off the Rickenbacker Causeway, just a few minutes away from downtown Miami and several popular tourist destinations. The beautiful stretch of Virginia Key Beach is an ideal location for barbecuing and picnics. The white shores of this beach is a pleasant haven that makes anyone forget their worries and feel spiritually awakened. One of the most scenic beaches in Miami, Virginia Key Beach has an antique Allan Herschel carousel in addition to a pavilion, event meadow, and a dance floor. It also has a playground, ample parking, restroom, tables, and more. With several shelters available for use, it is considered and often used as an event destination.

Virginia Key Beach is one of the last unscathed natural places in Miami and is surrounded by dense vegetation. You will find some of the oldest surviving plants and flowers here. To truly experience the ecological treasure living amidst us, you must either take a paddleboard tour or rent a kayak and tour the water nearby. Additionally, you can visit the Miami Seaquarium, Crandon Park, Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, and several other tourist attractions located nearby. The beach is also a well-known destination for hiking, swimming, surfing, and speedboats. There are bike paths that offer ample foot access and makes riding and skating a pleasant activity. If you get hungry, there several great places to eat nearby. The Pink's Hot Dogs inside the Miami Seaquarium serves the best chili and chili cheese hotdogs in Miami. The SALT Waterfront restaurant offers American eats, draft beer, and a scenic view from their waterfront patio. INTIMO is a little distance away, but if you can curb your hunger a little longer, you can enjoy the most romantic dinner with food that will blow you away.

Located in the city of Dunedin, Dunedin Beach is a very small, narrow, and rarely crowded beach that is a part of Honeymoon Island State Park and faces the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is situated in front of Hurricane Pass and is backed by Pelican Cove. Dunedin Beach has beautiful white-light grey sand and its shore is covered by lots of seashells making it an awesome destination for beachcombing.

Located between the City of Marathon and Big Pine Key, Bahia Honda State Park sits upon 500 acres of Bahia Honda Pine and offers the quintessential “Florida experience” - palm studded white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, breathtaking sunsets and starry nights. The park is gradually recovering from damage by Hurricane Irma and parts of its 2.5 mile beach area are still being reconstructed for public use. However, this doesn’t mean that the park has lost its charm, as it offers numerous activities for visitors along with amenities like showers, restrooms, concession stands and picnic pavilions. The beach allows pets on leash and provides accessibility to people with disabilities. Although the park has parking facilities, it may be really hard to find a spot during vacations.

The site has two open beaches – Calusa Beach and Loggerhead Beach, having loads of activities such as snorkeling, diving, kayaking, swimming, fishing and boat tours to nearby reefs. Paths for cycling and walking are also present. The picnicking sites in the area have several facilities to make your experience comfortable. The park is frequented by nature aficionados for exploring the vibrant biodiversity of the island, home to several rare species of plants and animals. Birdwatchers can look out for exotic shore birds. Hiking excursions are also available including one leading to the iconic Old Bahia Honda Bridge, which gives a picturesque view of Calusa Beach. The park also gives a clear view of the night sky for stargazing.

If you get hungry, you can visit the concession store in the park for snacks. The neighboring Keys also have great eateries, one being the iconic No Name Pub, named in the ZAGAT Survey as “the best casual dining experience in Florida Keys''. The Pub, 15 minutes away from the beach by car, is famous for its quirky dollar bill laden walls and treats like dips, burgers and its signature pizzas. Another popular joint less than a 10-minute drive away from the park is the Big Pine Rooster. The restaurant is popular for its diligent staff, airy ambience and an innovative menu. Be sure to visit Coco’s Kitchen, a family friendly place. Situated a short drive away from the park, the place offers great cubano cuisine at modest prices.

If you are looking for a place to stay near Bahia Honda State Park, don’t look further than their onsite campgrounds and cabins for an unforgettable experience with wilderness. Facilities like electricity, tables, grills and well-furnished cabin rooms make it ideal for lodging. The adjacent Keys also have nice accommodations, like Barnacle Bread and Breakfast, nine minutes away from the park by car. It is famous for its lavish rooms, great amenities. You might also encounter friendly key deer here! Another option is the Isla Bella Beach Resort, a 24 acre 4-Star resort 10 minutes away from the park by car and having luxuries including a 4000 square foot Spa, multiple fine dining options and a beautiful beachside bar.

Located near the city of New Smyrna Beach, Apollo Beach is a large five miles-long east-facing beach with white sand.  This beach is a part of a national seashore named Canaveral National Seashore.  Apollo Beach was featured in The Daily Telegraph newspaper’s article “Find out-of-this-world beaches on Florida’s Space Coast.”  

A part of this beach is popular with clothing optional visitors – this clothing optional portion is located near the southern end of the beach. 

The beach is usually open between 6 am and 8 pm.

Located to the north of the village of Surfside, Haulover Beach - also known as Haulover Park Beach - is an immensely popular and large white-sand beach. This one-and-a-half-mile long beach is situated adjacent to a park named Haulover Park and Haulover Beach Park. 

Located in the small town of Islamorada, Anne’s Beach is long and narrow beach situated at the center of the island city of Key West. The beach was named after a local environmentalist Anne Eaton and is filled with many locals.  Anne’s Beach is surrounded by coconut trees, has beautiful beige-colored sand, and has shallow waters making it a perfect destination for swimming. Anne’s Beach is very popular among kiteboarders, jet skiers, sailors, and paddleboarders. 

Located along the Martin County shoreline, Hobe Sound Public Beach - also known as Hobe Sound Beach, Hobe Sound Public Beach Park, and Hobe Sound Martin County Beach Park - is a county-managed beach with white sand. Many kinds of plants are present near this beach including palm trees and beach grasses. 

Located in the southern part of Canaveral National Seashore, Playalinda Beach is a nude beach with pale cream sand on Florida’s eastern coast.   Playalinda Beach is located in Canaveral National Seashore which has nearly 24 miles of beach – and which contains nearly 58,000 acres of barrier island, open lagoon, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and offshore waters.   

Reader's Digest listed this nude beach as one of the best beaches in Florida, and Conde Nast Traveller magazine also listed it as one of the best beaches near Orlando.  This Playalinda Nude Beach was listed as one of the best nude beaches in the world by the swimwear brand Pour Moi in 2023.  This beach is usually open between 6 am and 8 pm.

Located in Lee County, Bunche Beach Preserve - officially known as San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve - is a 718-acre preserve that has a white-sand beach. This beach is known as Bunche Beach. As an interesting fact, this preserve was named after Ralph Bunche, who was the first African-American to win the Nobel Prize in 1950. The beach in this preserve was first acquired by Lee County in 1949, which sought to use this land as a recreational area for African Americans whose access to beaches was limited by the Segregation-era practices of the time. A dense forest is present near this beach. Bunche Beach Preserve does not have lifeguards.
